Christina Agulera

Bionic is the sixth studio album by American pop recording artist Christina Aguilera. It was first released on June 4, 2010, by Sony Music Entertainment. The album sees Aguilera collaborating with a new range of producers and songwriters including Tricky Stewart, Polow da Don and Samuel Dixon, who each have three producing credits on the album. The album contains several different musical styles including R&B, pop, electropop, and synthpop. Upon release, the album received mixed reviews from music critics, some of whom praised Aguilera for being daring and experimental, while others felt that she was heavily influenced by her collaborators; resulting in inconsistency and a lack of focus.

Bionic is Aguilera’s first studio album in four years since Back to Basics (2006). Upon release in the United States, the album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 albums chart with sales of 110,000 copies. It had mixed success in the United Kingdom, where it debuted at number one but then went on to register the largest single weekly decline for a number one album in UK chart history. The album would later go on to be named Entertainment Weekly‘s fifth worst album of 2010.

The lead single from Bionic, “Not Myself Tonight” premiered on March 30, 2010 on Aguilera’s official website. The song was officially released as a single on April 13, 2010, and charted within the top 40 in most countries. The second US single, “Woohoo” featuring American rapper Nicki Minaj was released on May 18, 2010 on rhythmic radio only, and failed to make much of an impact; only charting at number 79 on the US Billboard Hot 100 due to high digital sales. The third single, “You Lost Me” was released on July 6, 2010.
